my ride ~ take two
after the gas line was cleaned out, or whatever george did to it, i had another go at driving to school.
the ride to school -
george had to come home from work to help me start the bike because it didn't want to work (thankfully it took him some maneuvering to get it to work as well...it's not just me!). after we got it running, it seemed to do its job well on the way to school...no worries. was i relieved!!!
the ride home -
it took a bit of doing to get it started, but then it worked like a charm. until...i was just about to get onto route 54...it sputtered a little like it had in the past and i prayed hard for God to let me get home or, again, to a place george could easily come get me.
the bike died while i was waiting at the red light to turn onto route 11 (hello! major intersection!). while it was still red i worked feverishly to get the bike to start to no avail. when the green arrow flashed i had no choice but to walk my motorcycle across the intersection in the hopes i would make it before the oncoming traffic was allowed to procede. i did. i then pulled it into the CVS parking lot and called george (crying) to tell him what was happening. he told me to call back if i couldn't start it and he would come for me. i was just about to call him back when i decided to give it another try. this time it worked!
i drove out of the parking lot and was just about to get back on route 11 when...yup, it happened again! this time i parked at the pool and spa place. before i called george i decided to try once more (you see, he was at work and i really didn't want to have to make him come to danville if he didn't have to) and it worked! this time i just sat there for a while as it ran, listening for that sputter. i didn't hear it too much so i thought i'd have one more go...
i pulled out onto 11 and things were working swimmingly until...yup, the needle on the speedometer was dropping fast and i pulled off to the side of the road and coasted til the bike came to a halt (miraculously in a little pull off area of gravel!). i called george and told him to come. and while i waited i explored the base of "lover's leap" (i had always wondered where that was!), crawling up into the woods a bit to get out of the heat.
george came. i drove his truck back. he drove the motorcycle back. he decided i must not have much gas since it seemed to work fine on reserve. actually, the gas line just needed a little more work. now i have no fear to drive it (though getting it started is still a bit of an adventure)
