my ride

so this morning i decided to ride my motorcycle to school (A: gas prices are too high; B: i finally picked it up from my parents' house; C: no chance of getting cold on the ride...man is it HOT!)...

i pulled out my car, pulled out the bike, put my car back under the carport, then proceeded to hop on the bike. i started it, then started it again, then tried to start it again. i did this a couple times before trying to use the choke. that seemed to work...then it didn't. the third time with the choke was a winner. the motorcycle wanted to "putt putt" a bit even after i had left the house.

but on to the real story...

driving down the road, about a mile from the intersection, the bike starting decelerating...rapidly. soon i was coasting down the road in neutral, attempting to start the motorcycle in motion. just as it was about to stop completely, i got it going again and made it to school (that was the scary part...that i would be late to school if i couldn't get it started). praise God from whom all blessings flow!

that was on the way to school...

on the way home...

it stopped again! it took me much longer to get it started this time. once i did, i prayed the whole way home, both thanking God and asking Him to get me all the way home, or at least to a point where George could easily help me get home.

we think there was dirt in the ____________ (i'm going to say either "intake" or "carburetor", but I really have no clue what i'm talking about) :)

last week of school!!!

here i stand (sit) at the precipice (desk) overlooking the future (students) and i am filled with awe (food). it's the last day of school before finals week and i have partook of much food, covered up my amazement about how little students remember, silently prayed for them to pass the final, and am currently counting the hours til i can go home for a nice long weekend.

this week i have:
- rode my bike around looking for my husband (he was at the scene of a tornado)
- made a lunch and accidentally left it in the fridge (george enjoyed a premade lunch, though)
- fell asleep while writing a grocery list
- dreamt about next week (a lot...both because of the end of school and my 1st anniversary!)
- dreaded double math classes (students have no focus these days)
- wore a pasta necklace (don't ask)
- loaned a student my final review answer key, only to find out later he accidentally threw it out with his geometry papers (only 137 questions i need to answer again)

best part of the day so far: watching ironman24/7's last show for the year...
"in the movie hunt for red october, what are they hunting for?"..."i don't know, i've never seen the movie."

tornado?

it all started with a text message, telling george to call the 911 center. soon he was heading out the door with 2 radios saying he'd be back sometime...he had no idea what was going on at that point, based on his answers to my questions. he left for who knows where (fire sirens everywhere...), then i heard on the one radio he left behind that he was on scene. i decided to go for a ride (on my bicycle) to see what the hubbub was about and why in the world 147 was completely shut down. when i got to the intersection of ridge road and 147, i heard the man directing traffic there tell someone in a car that there was a house in the road...he let me through (yay for choosing to bicycle!) and i found out that the house wasn't literally in the road (that would have been interesting). but i did see the damage done by the storm and could see the line the "twister" (if they classify it as one) took up the ridge. crazy! that's what george called me, too, for riding my bike all the way out there (when it could have showered again at any time).

who would have thought tornadoes would be touching down in central pa...it's been a crazy spring!
