elevator fun

so when my mom, melissa (my wonderful train-bearer), and i decided to go up to check out the cake, we decided to take the elevator as to not run into the guys on the stairs. jess went upstairs to hold the boys off from coming down past the great hall.

mom was in charge of the buttons (which in retrospect was not the best idea).

apparently she must have hit the button for the sanctuary instead of the great hall...no big deal, except that the guys were getting ready in the choir room (which just happens to be on the same floor as the sanctuary and right across the hall from the elevator door). so when the door opened to their floor (much to my surprise) and i saw a man in a suit (not George, thankfully) coming out of their door, i fell to the floor of the elevator behind melissa (i was actually quite impressed by my reaction time)

we got the doors shut and she pushed the right button this time, but not before pushing the button for the ground level (i just used melissa as a shield this time) where the guys would soon be coming out to go to the courtyard)...

finally we made it to the correct floor (but still had to hide in the elevator, because the guys were making their way down the stairs)

after all was said and done, he never did see me, and when asked what he thought he said "i was wondering why the elevator bell kept dinging"

a whole new world

no...not the disney song (though it is streaming through my brain right now)

saturday, june 5th, 2010, marked a significant day for me...my wedding day to the most amazing man in the world (sorry to all you ladies who believe that your husband happens to be that man...i disagree. and sorry to all you men who might take that as an insult...i didn't mean it that way)

our day was fantastic! i woke up at 5:45 am to get my hair done at 6am (Kariann came to the house and did a FANTASTIC job! I absolutely loved it!) got to the church at 7:30, where the girls got their hair done and we chilled and ate snacks. we got our pics taken by an amazing photographer (we love you, Ed!). fixed up the flowers on the cake (that George's mom did an excellent job on!) had some close calls in the elevator ;) (see elevator fun) the girls prayed for me. les came in and prayed for us. i walked down the aisle and DIDN'T cry! (however I did start laughing uncontrollably, and silently thanks be to God! I have no idea what that was about...seriously...laughter?) then George and I were married! so utterly surreal!

we got some pictures taken (Davey brought us food from the reception). we went and cut our cake (we were nice)...mingled...tried to get outside for more pics...finally made it outside and when we got back all of our guests were gone! crazy.

George had a surprise for me waiting out front...some of the guests had stuck around and then George and I went out and drove off in a Chevy Camaro (nice ride...though George did freak me out once or twice by peeling out in slow moving traffic). He took me for a nice ride (on which I almost fell asleep) and we ended only 10 minutes from my house at the most amazing cabin in the woods. (see cabin in the woods)

and the only hitch in the day was that i forgot to pay the caterer. :)
