the cookie miracle

i wasn't going to buy cookies. i took 3 dollars into the faculty lounge to purchase a snack (ok lunch). after selecting a bag of chips and pack of crackers (50 cents each), i decided that i would not spend the third dollar (which meant i couldn't get both cookies [75 cents] and a drink [65 cents]).

~i should put a question about this on the consumer math final!~

anyway, i decided to get the drink, saddened by the loss of my famous amos cookies, but happy to actually be sticking to my guns on the spending limit. famous amos had other plans, though.

i put my dollar into the soda machine and when i pulled out the change....wait for it....wait for it...the machine had returned exactly 75 cents!!! i thought for 1/2 a second about keeping the money before walking back to the vending machine to purchase my miracle cookies.
